London’s hospitality scene is built on passion, creativity, and a whole lot of graft. From chefs and bartenders to bakers and brewers, we’re shining a light on the people behind South London’s latest openings, giving credit where it’s due.
Hausu
Hausu is a laid-back restaurant and bar in the heart of Peckham that marries natural wines with great food – and even better tunes thanks to a vintage hi-fi sound system.
Chef Holly leads the kitchen with a seasonal menu of bold European-Asian flavours, while Tom mixes up creative cocktails and Chris sets the vibe with the sound. Enjoy mixes as eclectic as the interiors; retro lighting, a herringbone floor and soft green banquettes that conspire to keep you long into the evening.

Cafe Mondo
A fast-slinging sandwich joint by day and a laid-back dive bar by night, this is the first bricks-and-mortar spot from the Mondo Sando team. For lunch, try one of their cult sarnies such as the Mondo Frango or a killer Fish Finger sandwich. Come evening, there’s a short, ever-changing menu of snacks and small plates to choose from. Drinks? Slushies all day, fun wines and dive bar beer + shot combos.
With counter seating, a sunny front porch and a big backyard in the works, this is a place for lunch breaks, late nights, and everything in between.

Jazu
After years of pop-ups, owners Scott, Jimmy, and Rosie have created the bar they always wanted – a place to come for a cocktail, stay for the music and maybe even dance under the disco ball.
The cocktail list is one where every single drink sounds like the one, with mezcal and tequila featuring heavily. Midweek, albums play on rotation, while Thursday to Saturday sees vinyl-only DJs take over.
